DOg Bites

Dog Bites and Animal Attacks

An animal bite/ attack can be terrifying and may cause an individual to experience severe physical, emotional and/or  cosmetic injuries.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) approximates that nearly 800,000 dog bites in the United States per year require medical attention.  Many of those incidents will leave damages including scarring, emotional distress and/or psychological trauma, or orthopedic injuries.  Some may result in death.

These encounters are generally covered under a homeowner's or commercial business insurance policy, dependent on the ownership of the animal, and that owner will be liable for the damages.

Michigan is Strict Liability

In the State of Michigan, animal bites are strict liability,  meaning that liability does not depend on actual negligence or intent to harm by the animals owner.  The only factor that may prevent recovery is provocation against the animal.

What does this mean?  So long as the individual is not in a process of provoking the animal, you are entitled to compensation.

If you or a loved one has been bitten or attacked by someone's animal, contact use today for a free consultation.  We are available 24/7.
